How to Appreciate Bourbon in Plano, TX

Posted by Denise Burkey on

The ultimate American spirit – Bourbon.  Originally hailed from Bourbon County, Kentucky, now served right in here in Plano, TX.  Legal requirements are 51% corn, produced in the US, in new oak barrels.  Blended or straight – do you know the difference?

Blended – can contain other flavorings or spirits but must be at least 51% straight bourbon.
Straight – bourbon has aged at least 2 years and has no other flavoring or coloring.

To truly appreciate bourbon whiskey on its own there are two ways to do so.  First, Purists like to drink bourbon neat. Neat, by definition, is room temperature and without ice or water.  Secondly, some like to drink it with a few drops of water to “open” the aroma.  Best way to do this is to use a Glencairn whiskey glass, pour a finger or two into your glass, smell, taste, and enjoy!

Bourbon works great in cocktails as well.  Try vomFASS Plano pre-made Bourbon Old Fashioned or Mint Julep.  You could also make yourself a Manhattan.

These drinks are some of the staples of bourbon use, but bourbon can be enjoyed however you like.  Send us your favorite recipes (info@vomfassvillage121.com) and we will post them on our Facebook page.
